It is the original proposal of the writer Miri Páez Bolet to bring closer and remember the legendary Cuban singer, composer and guitarist, Maria Teresa Vera.

“It is a tribute that I had pending, a kind of intermittent investigation that I began in 2009 and that came to fruition in February 2022 with this illustrated songbook and the “jirallamas”: graphic characters that I draw and that have become a kind of daughters/sons, alter ego, that accompany me,” said the author to the ARTExpress program.

The final project contains the scores and lyrics of 117 songs, with more than 200 original illustrations of the Jirallamas, created by Miri Páez Bolet, which then transform this songbook into a visual journey where these characters could even be sharing their own stories by reinterpreting this carefully selected repertoire.

It is ideal for music lovers, Cuban culture enthusiasts and those seeking a deeper connection with timeless melodies.
